Hello and Goodbye dsd Colombia!

Hello Friends!

As you might have noticed from the absence of posts lately, I am sadly no longer with FCNL. My position ended at the end of July and I now write to you from Colombia where I am on holiday for a few weeks before moving to Burundi in October. So I guess this is my goodbye post.

I want you all to rest assured that just because I have left that it doesn´t mean the end of It´s Our Community. Becca Sheff will be taking over my position beginning September 1 and she will continue to write on a regular basis: the Monday blogroll, legislative updates, etc. Becca is an incredible woman and I am sure that she will keep you updated on all the latest immigration happenings. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact FCNL´s legislative director Ruth Flower.

As for me, I will continue my work with the Friends in another capacity. In October I will move to Burundi to work with the Friends Women´s Association, a grassroots women´s clinic focused on post-genocide trauma healing, HIV/AIDS, and community education. I´ll keep a blog there as well, so while it´s not up and running yet, you can find me at www.sustainablepeacebypiece.wordpress.com .

It´s been a pleasure working with all of you on immigration. I look forward to celebrating with you when we finally see just and humane comprehensive immigration reform passed in the United States.

En paz y solidaridad,

Alexandra
